Pure McLaren GT Series
Day 1, 28th April 2018
Amazing weather at Spa on this Saturday in April when we start our practice session. My team and I are planning a full race simulation and everything is looking good for qualifying after my race pace proves to be very good.
Qualifying is a 20 minute session just before lunch and I get my new Pirelli’s fitted and go out to try and set a fast lap straight away. My first timed lap is a 2.32.7 and this proves to be enough to take pole by one tenth of a second. Close!
The race is late in the afternoon and is a 30 minute race from a standing start. I’m a bit slow off the line but still first into La Source and manage to pull a 2.6 second lead on my first lap. It’s all pretty uneventful at the front as I continue to pull away until we have a car in the tyre wall at the top of Eau Rouge. The safety car is deployed and all of us are now back together before the re-start. I make a small mistake by not backing the field up enough before the re-start but my pace is good so I manage to pull away again at the front.
My first ever GT4 win!

Day 2, 29th July 2018
Woke up to heavy rain and the wets are on for practice in the morning. Have a few big moments on my first few laps out and decide to stay safe and calm until it really matters in the qualifying and race.
Qualifying is once again a 20 minute stint just before lunch. It has stopped raining and the track has started to dry out but is still wet in places so it’s inspected before we head out and the track is deemed dry so we have the choice to go for slicks or start on the wets. We decide to go for slicks and take it easy to start with and hopefully be on the right tyre for a final push as the track dries out. I go for it 2 laps from the end of the session and manage a 2.33.3 which proves to be pole again and this time by more than 2 seconds.
This race is a rolling start in a two by two formation and I get away quite well. The car behind me in forth decides to lunge up the inside where I have already started turning into La Source and there is contact as he drives into my rear quarter and push me wide losing my position to the car that pushed through. I stay with him just waiting for him to make a mistake to give me the opportunity to get past. Single make race series this so overtaking isn’t always easy. Four laps from the end after a number of yellow flags, he makes that mistake and runs wide into La Source and I’m up the inside and first through Eau Rouge. Again, my race pace is good and I manage to pull away and maintain the lead until the end. Very happy to see the chequered flag!
My second GT4 win and it’s at Spa and what a weekend it’s been!
Watch below my second pole of the weekend!
Went on slicks on a drying track and managed a decent time of 2.33.3
